Love the work of this Artist. I have a painting that is about 50 - 60 years old signed by a "John McCartan," does anyone know if it is a relative of Edward? It is a mixed media "Winter Farm Scene" of perhaps NE Ohio, PA or Western NY. Any info appreciated.

I visited Lincoln Park in Chicago to see the scuplture Dream Lady that is in the Zoo. My father is the the boy in the sculpture. He posed for the in NYC when he was a boy. It felt so good to see it. I now live in Myrtle Beach SC and recently discovered another sculpture, thanks to our local paper, at Brookgreen Gardens called Dionysus.

I am impressed with the beauty of my namesake's art. I have had the privilege of seeing some of it, and respect his talent. I am an artist, also, with a studio at Fort Andross, in Brunswick, ME.
Thank you for making McCartan's work available on this fine website.

Edward McCarten was a sculptor of genius, was he not? - his work is elegant and above all sensual. Thank you for making this splendid website - I was eager for more information on the man and his work, and your website is therefore an oasis.

My first encounter with Edward McCartan was his "Diana" at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC. I was stunned by its beauty and still am, thirty years later. I just discovered his small collection of bronzes at the National Gallery in Washington D.C. Mr. McCartan's over-life-size "Isoult" is glorious. His work is achingly beautiful and certainly deserves more representation in our museums, especially the American Wing of the Metropolitan in New York City.

I live in Reading. I have admired "Girl Drinking From a Shell" in the Reading Public Museum and Art Gallery ever since I first saw it as a child. It is very striking. Looking for more information about the sculture and the sculptor let me to your website. I especially enjoy the galleries. Well done.

I always wanted to be an atist when I left High School but ended up becoming an accountant and adult educator. My cousin John McCartin has a work hanging in the NY Museum of Contemporary Art. My namesake was a brilliant sculptor.

I have a 28" bronze of Girl Drinking from a Shell. Her head is polished from my late father's friends rubbing their hands over her head for good luck on their way out of his house.
I would love to know more about the piece. Its not for sale by the way.

My wife Kathy and I graduated from Lafayette College in Easton, PA. I learned this evening through the website that Edward sculpted the pediment on the Kirby Hall of Civil Rights at Lafayette College. As a Government and Law Major I spent countless hours in the classrooms and library housed in Kirby Hall. Kathy and I have remained very close to the College over the past 25 years and now the connection seems even a little stronger.
